I believe that you understand how to stay positive more than most people. So on that note I know that the mystery of death will be revealed to us eventually. In the mean time we shall trust in God and what he has planed for us; the living and the dead. I too, believe that one can find something meaningful and make it beneficial to many including our selves. You have already done that when you wrote this story about your son. I think some family have a deep connection fast as the speed of thought. I went to cathiolic school also and was taught by nuns.
