I recently made the top 7 in a Canadian National Contest. We had to make a video and mine was by far the best; but I didn't win the top prize. I'm having trouble dealing with the disappointment and the obvious unfairness (the best were voted for, but sympathy won out over quality). How do I get over these feelings?

I'm in Beverly's boat right now. Used to win all the time. Now it's barely a single prize/contest win in a couple of months.
One of the more recent contests, I followed the exact rules/regs. One entry per person only; & you had to submit a healthy recipe using the products of the promoter and submit a photo of the completed recipe. (You could look at the other entries - and only one other person out of over 650 entrants - also submitted a photo. The other entrants stated what they were doing to eat healthier - nothing about using the product being promoted). One prize per month was being given away to only those who entered during the current month. The month I entered, there were only 8 other entries - and NOT one submitted a photo or a recipe using the promoter's product. Because I followed the instructions to a "T" I just KNEW I'd be a winner that month - and nothing.
Same with another very recent mail-in contest. It was a 5-day contest - and I took my entry right to the post office on the 2nd day of the contest. The postmark would determine if your entry made it in time. (Which mine did). Because the timeframe was so short, I figured I'd have a pretty good chance. Once again, nothing.

I for the most part, maintain a positive outlook on life. However, I have wished for things and it was when I forgot about the wish that was when it came true. So I began to a access the situation and realized:GOD prepares us to appreciate HIS gifts before he presents them to us. Therefore, the time we wait for a dream to come true is like 'getting dress for the ball.' GOD will grant the us the desires of our hearts, when we are ready to appreciate them.
The person that I'm is a very loving always willing to gave and help others. One of the problems that I have done is always think of everyone else before myself. This period that I'm in right now I don't know why. But I do know why I'm in Florida. I quote my job in Alaska after 24yrs my husband past away he made me promise that I would leave Alaska and get my son out of there so I keep my promise. My son was into a lot of bad things drugs-selling if I didn't get him out of there he would of been in jail now. So I think God I got out now that I've been in Florida he's back in school made 100% turn around no more drugs I'm so proud of him. Hi! I would like some information on how I can win in a pick Brazilian lottery where they have 60 numbers to choose and no prizes for three matching numbers(what makes it even harder).
I have tried so many things out and keep being suckered in. I am studying now on Real Estate and also trying for grants or any thing else to keep going. Just got my brakes done. I would like the financial ability to help people in need ,I travel, first through prayer, then through physical inspection;person,dwelling, geographic surroundings.
The questions that I addressed were the designated replies. Even though the answer was not exactly how I would reply. I have tried to be just one step ahead of the take back man all of my life. I have always been just one paycheck away from bankruptcy. Now with the economy going down every day and my investments have gone from not making a lot to not having any money left in my investment or to invest into.
Not that I have been wasteful or not able to manage my money its just that if I make a dollar more gas goes up two dollars. Just behind enough not to quit but hope that tomorrow will offer a better day.
I have tried the lotteries and games of chance and if I have twenty dollars to loose I loose twenty dollars. I never go into a game of chance to loose and try to have a positive mind set in I can win as much as there is there to win.
If there is a way to win I sure do need to know what it is and if its have a positive mind set I should have won thousands of times before.
It would be nice one more time to win a $ prize as I am planning on renovating my house very soon. I have won a boat before but sold it after a year because we are too busy to enjoy the water. I have won one with the radio and things like bottle openers and coffee samples but nothing big. There were over 100,000 entries and I was one of the winners of only 10 sets of tickets that were being given away! I believe in the power of Positive thinking. I believe in the universe bringing into my life what I need, it has been proven over and over. I have called it divine intervention and along with the power of positive thinking anything can happen. Being alert, listening, praying and beiieving in myself thru thick and thin.
I have been trying to change my way of thinking and I think if you know you are going to recieve something you will. You have to really know what you want and really know and feel you will get it and you will. I am still working on it, I think it is all the negativity that has been instilled in me since I was young that is blocking me.
I truly believe in your SPEC strategy and it would work when our mind gets under the control of our Intention. To reach that control I understand the breathing technique would help by freeing us from anxiety, depression, etc. Then, with a ‘free mind’ our Intention will make our goal come true at the designated time. It is working, but partially.....for example, I play Fantasy5, and I only assert two winning numbers frequently, the other three, I perceive then wrongly. Why our mind does interferes with wrong answers when we know we are in the stage of relaxation and feeling free from those negative emotions? Is there any answer on this, perhaps on the mind’s magnetic fields? Love, Idelis
I have listened to The Law of Attraction many times, I am a man of great faith in God's word and his promises, trust that he is the true one that is in control, but I may be lacking still in other areas. Gurus are not of God, but read the book The Angels of Light by Hobart Freeman. It speaks of the accults. I hope this is the opposite. No offense Helen, but interested in what you have to say.

I started using your methods when I first read your little book "Name it and Claim it", years ago.. I think that was before you came up with SPEC, which is the enhanced version of name it and claim it. I have no difficulty visualizing or living the "as if" principle. I'm so completely convinced I'm a winner that I'm shocked to find out I'm not. I'm stymied as to why I have still never won anything big. I even have the intuition of when it will be a "winning day" for the lottery jackpot. I play, sure enough the jackpot is won, but not by me! One week when I played I won $10, bought back more tickets, won $7, bought back more tickets, won $2. Then I didn't win anything after that! How could I be SO CLOSE yet still lose? It's very frustrating.
I feel like there's a curtain between me and an ability to attract success, prosperity and happiness. How do I lift that curtain and keep it lifted?

I keep striving to pull myself up by my own bootstraps, to be self reliant and sustainable, yet just as I'm on the verge of digging out of my financial hole some unforeseen event will happen dragging me back deeper into debt and troubles than I was before.
I strive to be a positive individual always in the outward of appearance. Internally I feel depressed and repressed but strive within myself to lighten it in trying to find humor in my predicaments while looking to the positive way out of that which seems to incessantly hold me back. It's exhausting.
What am I doing wrong? I've not gotten your book or DVD yet. There are presently more pressing living expenses demanding my every last dime.

For those of you who keep saying you are "disappointed" or frustrated because you didn't win a particular prize or sweepstake....please go back and re-read Helene's book. There are no failures or losses, only delayed response! Disappointment is a waste of precious (positive) energy and will only increase the "delay". It's simple really - like attracts like and dwelling on what you didn't win naturally brings an even greater LACK of wins!
My advice is to avoid focusing on the "how" (i.e. a specific sweep or contest) whatsoever. Yes, find ones that offer prizes you want to win, but focus your energy only on the end result (i.e. the money or car or trip, etc) - not on the sweepstake itself. I am a firm believer in this recipe for winning and I am following in Helene's footsteps as a result: I have won more than 100 different sweepstakes (including 2 major trips) in a little over a year. Someday I may just write a book on winning of my own!!

A few days ago I just read 2 books, 2 very interesting books:
1 - The Science Of Getting Rich, by Wallace D. Wattles
AND
2 - The Science of Being Well, by Wallace D. Wattles.
These 2 books changed my life, my way of thinking about life, about a lot of things.
It all started from Helene Hadsell and how she won everything she wanted. Then I start to read more about The Secret and then about Mr. Wallace D. Wattles (who was the one that started this certain way of thinking).
For all of you that want to read something really interesting, that will change your life, just search on the internet those 2 books (you will find it free to download it) and you won't regret that you have read it. Believe me!

My life has been pretty exciting until a year and a half ago.
I was a very poor little gal who was able to get a college education, taught hi schhol 14 years and at the University for 25. Had 2 wonderul marriages. Lost both husband first to lung cancer and suicide after 31 years, second to alzheimers after 15. Been widowed for 17 years. Have authored 4 books and have world coverage on them. Hold more degrees than most. I hava a BS, MS, 6th year degree. a guidance counselor degree, a high school principals license,
a school superintendent's license (for all 12 grades),
last one --a PhD in Philosophy from Purdue. I have had a wonderful son who died of a heart attack at age 60, a wonderful step son who also died at age60 of esophagus cancer. I have spoken with psychics in my past and I do believe some can see some future things BUT our future is always subject to change at any time by even one tiny thing, like meeting someone you don't know who smiled and wished you a good day. I know that would have warmed you inside and made you feel better. You cannot let one person, like a psychic, control your destiny. God has given us all "free will" and it is up to us, not a psychic, to project positiveness in our lives and to be grateful for everything.
Always look at those who have "less" than you and see what you can do for them. It will make you feel so much better as a person and I do believe God rewards us all for the steps we take, whether they are forward or backward.

I must say that I have been lucky a few times. Not often. Sometimes I will get an aching feeling to go to the store and buy a lotto ticket. If I try to ignore it the feeling gets stronger so I usually will go. I once kept avoiding buying a ticket all day. I finally went because the feeling was so strong. I won 75.00 on that ticket. I have got this feeling to go to the casino and I win but I dont know when to quit.Usually I when I win it's very quick after arriving. Once I won off of 3 machines in a row. I won over 800.00. I didn't leave and I lost it all. I would like to follow my hunches but not at the casino. The casino is not my best place to win. I have had dream premonitions about lucky situations and many times with my mom present within the dream. My mom is in heaven. The next day I will have unexpected money given to me some how. As I say though It is not too often. It's a great surprize when I do win. I would just like to win enough to pay off my debts. My question is relating to dreams. For over a month now I have been keeping a record of my dreams. I started by telling myself that I wanted to dream and instructing myself to remember the dream when I awake. I have notice that some of the dreams, even when they dont make sense, sometimes have a pattern. I would like to dream of something specific. Like an ansewer to a question...how do I do that? I have dreamed before in my life prophetically without notice. I would like to dream prophectically on specific things I want help with.

My story is like everyone elses that have made a comment. I did contesting years ago, around the mid '70's. I bought your book back then, The Name It and Claim It Game, revised 1979. I did win a camera that I really, really wanted and some other small prizes. I've been entering contests on line but haven't won anything yet. I have read the Secret and know about positive thinking and gratitude but haven't been able to use it in my part-time job or getting a good job and income and everything else. I think it's because my thoughts are so scattered. I just want to enter all the contests with the prizes that I like without concentrating on any one at a time. I've won three contests since childhood and I am now 39 years old. I want to win millions of dollars. I hear it is harder to win big things than small things. I always keep trying and use the same numbers in the mega million from Texas like you suggested in your book. I'm giving energy to these numbers 5,6,18,27,39,1,4. I had a situation the first couple of draws where I would get one or two of the above numbers in the correct order every single time. I never got everysingle number or enough to win a significant amount of money. Then I quit thinking about the numbers constantly and I noticed that the above numbers quit showing up in the draws. I need to try again, I've been so busy and it seems so hard to try and think constantly about the above numbers and I feel mad that it isn't working for me. I must wait, but how long? I guess I'll try again, because that is all I can do.

I get the best results when for example if I want to win a piano I make a space for it, vividly imagine playing it, buying music and a music stool.
Really acting 'as if' and taking actions as if you already have the thung in your possession does work.
I've also won what in to-day's money would be something like $2000.00 worth of fine wines. In that case I didn't really think about it much at all. I just bought tickets in a charity in a light-hearted manner with the pasing thought that it would be really lovely to have all that beautifhul wine to drink and i could almost taste the best vintage.

I have had a poor health for a long time but that is the way God made me and I had to learn to accept the fact. Money can't buy everything but sure nice to have some more extra to go places I wish to go or dreamed of.
I have done it all. With my whole being I believed. I meditated for a month that I would win the lottery jackpot. My meditation was from the quantum level all the way to meditating the universe. I meditated about that day, the day I had won the lottery jackpot. I meditated the numbers I played coming up each time they called the number. I could see it very clearly. Calmly and patiently I meditated and repeated affirmations with no doubt in my mind that I had already won the jackpot. I even started picking out the house I want to build. I picked out contractors, land, everything right down to the smallest detail. I could see my new life so clearly. I would dream of it every night. At first, I was so excited about winning I could hardly contain myself. Later on, I felt calm and content that this was mine. I actually was quite surprised by the magnitude of calm and contentment I was feeling. I felt like rays of sunshine were just bursting out of my being everywhere I went. I had a bounce in my step and a permanent smile inside and out. I knew this truth like it was already mine. I felt like I was a millionaire. People I know would comment on my radiant attitude but I never revealed what it was that made me feel this way. Many, many months went by. I was very patient and diligent in my ways. With the last jackpot, for some reason, it felt like it was the one. It's finally here and it belonged to me. I went on google maps to google the place I would have to go to claim my prize. I printed out the directions, any necessary paperwork, and got my ticket ready so the next day I could just take my paperwork and ticket and go. I ABSOLUTELY KNEW THIS WAS MINE. When they called the numbers and I found out someone else won, I was in complete shock. I just sat there and didn't say anything for hours. I had no thoughts running through my mind at all. I felt numb. I have no idea what I have done wrong and to this day I feel like that was my jackpot. Helene if your out there, can you tell me anything? I am at a loss. I don't know what to do. Hello Aly. Thank you for your complement. It's funny you should say that because all my life I have written. Theories, life experiences, science, the mind, and so on. I've filled so many notebooks with thought I can't count how many I have done. Many people have tried to nudge me in the direction of actually publishing a book, yet I have one weakness. I am one the most disorganized people you probably would ever meet. LOL. I just write, stream of consciousness, I just can't seem to pull anything together to get my points across in an organized manner. I am very flattered by your comment but I am very leery about posting my email address here and I don't know how to get a hold of Kate. On a different note, does Helene read and respond to these replies? I would sure love to pick her brain mabey in some email correspondence. Hello, Helene. It is strange how I have held myself back all of these years with negative impressions of luck. But I see that it is not luck. I always thought that the lottery was rigged or that someone will swoop up the kitty before the winnings will come in. I set myself up. Hi Helene, I read your book and watched your video. I have been contesting for over 10 yrs. and have won $48,130.12 in prizes. I have also been studing the works of Ernest Holms and the Science of mind for over twnety years and see some similarity between what you do and the steps of what they call treatment. I've found the times I do win I don't even think about it much os opposed to the times I give it alot of energy? You say to project and it seems you focuss quite abit of energy towards your goal. So I'm confused about how much one really needs to think about winning?

I have never entered Publisher's Clearing House sweepstakes b/c the odds are way too high...
Winning is like anything else in life that works...always have a hopeful attitude...some day your prize will come if you are entering all the time. Be positive as often as you can---just make it a new habit. I wasn't always positive either...then wait for the mailman every day...if not today, then tomorrow, if not tomorrow, then another day.
In the meantime, make up a board of photos from magazines
of things you want to win!
I have read about the how to as far as winning sweepstakes as you have done,however, I haven't had any winnings as of now. I have an extra ordinary feeling when I use your principles, and I do feel I will have a winning amount with very,very high numbers associated with this. I look forward to that happening!
I have reviewed past draws, played numbers that have hit more often than others, calculated numbers, played 9 entries of 6 numbers each. I still have not found a system worth the money. I have bought a couple of systems who say you can be an instant winner by following my guidelines. I have found no winners. I am a very positive, happy-spirited, and upbeat person. I purchased your book and DVD and am very inspired by your successful winnings. I tried the SPEC method to see if I could win the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes a few months ago. I selected it, projected it, expected it, and waited to collect it. I meditated for an hour every morning for several weeks with the faith and belief that it was mine. I claimed it! My feelings were so strong, I actually believed that Dave Sayer was going to ring my doorbell and hand me a check for $10,000,000! I had my outfit on that I envisioned wearing on that day and was very excited! I believed it was for me! When it didn't occur, I was very disappointed and hurt because I had put my heart and soul into it. Since that day, I have been very hesitant about trying to project anything because I don't think I can handle that type of disappointment again. Any suggestions?????

Helene, I've experienced a knowing that I would win and sometimes I've won and sometimes not. I'm wondering if maybe sometimes someone else's desire trumps mine and they win instead of me? Is there any way to improve the effectiveness of my winning ways? I seam to be a streaky winner and would like to minimize the duration of my absence of success.
I have your books and videos, I love them and often try to reread them. They go on trips with me, so that I can get the info in the 20th and 21st time to stay put. Basically I am a positive person and have a hard time dealing with negative people, and I do win at least on an average of one thing per week in my sweepstakes hobby (not all big prizes, but useful ones). My question and what I'd like to see you talk about more is "exactly how you put your energy into focusing on the one big prize you want to win. Is it that you just search out every sweeps that offers that prize and enter like crazy?" I have natually been able to focus on some things in the past and found that I won the prize, just a sorta feeling I got when I put the entry slip in or read the sweepstakes, but there are other prizes that I truly want even more (like a car -- it's been on my Wishboard forever) and I can't seem to pull it in. Keeping our minds clear of negativity is really the key. We need to feel our way to what we want by always flowing good energy and thoughts to our desires. When we take our eyes off that concept, we immediately see the lack in our lives, and it blocks the flow, both going from us and going to what it is we want. It's hard, but I know it can be done! Helene is a perfect example - along with all of the other wonderful teachers out there.

I have been listening and trying the SELECT,PROJECT,EXPECT,COLLECT but there is a blockage.
I am stuck at PROJECT. I try to imagine what it would be like to win the lottery or have a lot of money but it seems, it I can't get through PROJECT, then if you can't get through project, how do you get to EXPECT?
I have tried medidation and this seems to help a busy mind but clarity eludes me.
I love my job but my pay is poor. I am in health care and working in a family practice as a medical assistant in triage. It is very satisfying to help people but my wages have been frozen now for 2 years. I am very grateful to have a job but with the rise on expenses, its hard to make ends meet. For example, my electrical bill last month was $545. for one month.

Hi Helene, almost every week I dream numbers and I don't know what it means. I play the New York numbers the pick 3 or 4 and the lotto. I have not won anything.Sometimes I may dream one two three four or five numbers at a time. Can you tell me what it means when I dream numbers. I love the simplicity of "SPEC" - however I'm now devouring anything I can read on the concept of "release", or "surrender" once my goal is chosen, projected & then expected. To continue to work on the 'expectation/ visualising' angle, can for me subtly seem to work against the ultimate outcome, as it can mean I'm not accepting it's reality, so I'm still "working" on visualising this to reinforce any 'unbelief' - hence my curiosity & interest in the concept of 'releasing', prior to the win, as an indication of full acceptance. A Very Happy Monday to you Helene, My name is Ava i am 53 years young, I am now on my second marriage, I am my husbands 3rd, he is 68 years young. Helene what does a woman do when she says her affirmations out loud in the mirror or while driving with ehr husband or around the house out loud, or while walking in the park at 6.00am in the morning with her husband and write them on the mirror and makes 3 vision boards which she put up and has to take down since her husband is not really pleased and says it all nonsense, in life you have to work for what you get and work hard.
What does a woman do when she is staying positive and singing positive statements month after montha dn the husband says all that is hog wash, who do you think you are and then goes and tells others behind your back that you are not living in the real world, tells them you read all this on the Internet and its nonsense.What do you do when all you ask is for your husband to beleive in your dreams? Well I still with all that try to stay focused as you would say and say the affirmations in my mind and visualize.

I sincerly helped a lot of people make millions in real estate deals, industrial consultancy and financial management, etc., but when the time for giving me the payments on a percentage basis that was agreed upon, they either refused, vanished or paid only 0.01 % to 0.1 % of what they had agreed to pay me and gave some excuse or the other. Why is it so all the times ?
I find it hard to maintain the positive thoughts and to get specific in what it is I really want.. I have had good things happen but only won something once..

I love and admire you so much. I meditate with the Sylva Alpha mind recording. where I have been doing my visualizing. I have a vision board. I have reinacted what I disire. There is a drawing for a million dollars twice a week by spinning a wheel. One day a lady gave me 200 tickets. I took this as a oman of such that at the next drawing I would win for sure. I've decorated my tickets, giving them tons of love and blessings. still my win is in the barrel. Eccept for the last two drawings I've been sitting and playing machines in another part of the casino to wait for my name to be called. The last two drawings I went into the same room as the wheel to play and wait for my name to be called. Do you think I should forget about playing games, and stand right up next to the wheel for when my name is called? The barrel keeps getting deeper and deeper with names every week, but that has never discouraged me. There is a drawing tonight, and I have 18 more tickets to add to the barrel.

I love your attitude! I purchased and read your book and watched the DVD's. I believe in and use the SPEC system. I won a $5000 ATV from purchasing a $20 raffle ticket. I won a door prize at a luncheon. I repeated my name several times right before they drew my name from the hat. The luncheon I was obviously present at and I drove by the ATV many many times "saying: I am going to win that for my husband" and I did. There have been so many other contests I have entered and used the SPEC system and did not win. The contests are over. Some I was present at and some I entered On Line. I will not give up!
